What to do when you get injured

No one wants to get injured. If the injury is life-threatening, this service is not for you. Please proceed to the nearest ED for a full evaluation. Otherwise, read below! Too anxious to read? Just dial 33-STITCHES

Here are the steps to take if you have a cosmetically sensitive injury

Step 1

Remain calm! Assess the situation. Is this an isolated injury in a cosmetically sensitive area (an eye cut, a forehead wound). Make sure the scene is safe.

Step 2

Hold gentle pressure for 5 minutes without lifting. This should stop most bleeding. If bleeding does not stop, you can hold pressure another 5 minutes. If this does not work, please proceed to the nearest emergency department for evaluation. If it does stop, cover the area with gauze or a bandaid.

Step 3

Take a picture of the injury on a smart phone. Take a picture of your insurance card and your ID.

Step 4

Dial 33-STITCHES (no area code) and get connected to one of our advisors. They will then verify your insurance and give you instructions on where to go for treatment.
